  1. Conflicts with the netnews namespace can be dealt with by proper
  2. selection of the namespace.  Sites have been defining their own local
  3. hierarchies for quite some time.  For example, there is no netnews
  4. "archive" hierarchy in use, so it is relatively safe to name the
  5. archive for this list "archive.c-client".

  7. I maintain that it is a mistake to expose implementation details
  8. through the interface unless the user is explicitly making
  9. implementation-specific requests.  In particular, it is wrong to
  10. expose the storage format through the default "rubber-room" namespace.
  11. Why should the user have to know or care whether the mailing list
  12. archives are stored in netnews, berkeley, or tenex format?
